The EPO Digital Library on Innovation is an online hub for in-depth resources, studies, and data on technology and intellectual property (IP), provided by the European Patent Office (EPO) and its partners. This resource provides those interested in innovation valuable insights into developments and trends across the world.

Access and Content

You can access the library directly at Digital Library v0.15.0 without needing an account. The library brings together a diverse collection of materials, including:

  • Economic studies and technology insight reports from the EPO Observatory.
  • Publications, videos, and podcasts from EPO expert and stakeholder networks.
  • Resources categorised into key areas like environment and sustainability, industries, and science and technology.
  • Links to third-party documents for informational and educational purposes.

The content is regularly updated and searchable by topic, title, or summary, with filtering options for media format and content type.

Other EPO Information Resources

The EPO also offers other valuable online databases and tools related to patent information:

  • ESPACENET: A free, public patent search tool providing access to information on more than 150 million patent documents from 1782 to today.
  • EUROPEAN PATENT REGISTER: A free-to-use service for accessing legal and procedural information on European patent applications and granted patents.
  • PATSTAT: The EPO’s statistical database, a global reference for patent intelligence and statistical analysis.

MyEPO services: A secure platform for applicants, opponents, and representatives to interact with the EPO, manage digital files, and use the AI-based Legal Interactive Platform.
